| Werdna
Conrad moved to Las Vegas in December of 1987. Her son
Brent Conrad had started his company, BC Transportation
in 1983 with a 1973 Kenworth tractor. Werdna helped Brent
to acquire his contract carrier authority in early 1988
and once it was completed, he purchased a 1979 Kenworth
tractor and gave the 1973 Kenworth to Werdna to start
her company of Werdco, Inc. Werdna immediately applied
for her commercial carrier authority, which she received
in April of 1989. As the volume of work increased in Southern
Nevada, Werdna added a few more used tractors to the fleet
and matched them with owner/operators, and by 1995 she
had purchased her first new tractor. In 1999 do to the
federally mandated deregulation of the trucking industry,
she and her son Brent Conrad merged Werdco, Inc. and BC
Transportation to which is now known as Werdco
BC, Inc. The company currently owns 16 tractors,
and a numerous amount of trailers capable of hauling aggregate
material, asphalt, construction supplies and heavy equipment.
In addition to our company fleet, we dispatch approximately
80 + owner/operators on a daily basis.
The uniqueness
of Werdco BC, Inc., is that it is 85% owned by a woman
and was started on the aspiration of a hard working
female. To this day, Werdna controls the administration
of the office, while Brent deals one on one with customers
and oversees the drivers and maintenance of the equipment.
She also has two grandsons Brandon and Ben Conrad taking
an active interest in the family business.
